Description: This region of the Black River watershed becomes more wild the further east you travel. This relatively flat parcel just outside the Village of Carthage was once primarily farm fields and pasture. The major tree species found in this attractive woodlot are: hemlock, white pine, red & white oak, hard & soft maple, basswood, beech, birch, aspen, cherry, hophornbeam, hawthorns and apple, which attract and nourish a wide range of native species. A small trout stream and tributary to the Black River cuts across the northwest corner of the parcel.
